Folder Compare Settings
To change settings for the folder comparison, go to:
Kaleidoscope > Settings… > Folders
The following settings are available and will be applied for future folder comparison operations. Already open windows will not be affected.
Scanning
Include hidden files and folders
Turn this option on to include hidden files and folders in folder comparisons. On macOS, these typically start with a dot, like .DS_Store.
Ignore Patterns
Ignore Patterns are a powerful way to exclude certain files and folders from your folder comparison. They allow you to focus on the folder contents you care about.
The Ignore Patterns view offers various preset patterns that can be turned on to suit your needs.
The Add button below allows creating your own named patterns. Use common regular expression syntax to define a pattern. Follow the ICU documentation for Regular Expressions to create patterns: https://unicode-org.github.io/icu/userguide/strings/regexp.html.
Double-click the name or pattern entry of any pattern you created to edit it.
Use the Remove button to remove patterns you previously created but no longer need.
Skip checking all data …
If files have the same file size, Kaleidoscope still checks those files thoroughly for differences. For large files, this may take a very long time.
Commonly, most files tend to be equal if they are of exact same size, in particular large media files like movies.
This setting allows you to set a maximum file sizes beyond that Kaleidoscope no longer checks the whole file for differences. When this option is enabled, files above the size set will assumed to be equal if they are of equal size.
Display
Icon Size, Font Size, Background
Similar to what the Finder offers, these two settings allow you to choose between small and large file/folder icons and set a font size that works for you. Also choose between a single or alternating row backgroud colors.
Automatically expand changes
By default, the outline view will automatically expand folders that have changes in them when the comparison completes. This helps you get an immediate overview over all changes in the two folder structures you are comparing. This option lets you turn off that behavior.
Copy Items
Show summary before copying
When this option is enabled, Kaleidoscope will show a confirmation summary when clicking the Copy button. This gives you a final chance to review what will be copied. When disabled, the copy process will start immediately.
